Training
With the opening of the new clinic on Sydney
Street the practice has reinstated its training accreditation. Dr
Paul Lanham is the lead trainer with support from Drs John Scott,
Bryan Palmer and John Harris. General Practice trainees or
"Registrars" are qualified doctors who are carrying out their final
training to become General Practitioners under supervision. These
doctors are usually with the practice for six to twelve months. The
practice has also recently begun training University of Queensland
medical students who are on placement from
Nambour General Hospital.
As of
January 2010 Dr Bronwyn Reddish joined the practice as our latest
trainee. Bronwyn graduated in 2004 from the University of Adelaide.
She has worked at Flinders Medical Centre for 4 years before moving
to Queensland in 2008. She married her husband Daniel in 2007 and
commenced her first GP attachment at Murgon in 2009.
Former Registrars
2009
Our
most recent former GP trainee who joined us in January 2009 was Dr Nwai Nwai Sane. Dr Sane
qualified in Burma in 1981 and has worked in Myanmar, South Africa,
Brisbane, Kingaroy, Noosa and Gympie before joining us for the last
part of her GP training at Nambour Clinic. She already has run her
own GP surgery in Myanmar between 1986 and 1996.
2008
Dr
Mark Zischke joined us in January 2008 after graduating from the University of Queensland in 2001. He was based at Nambour
Hospital in 2002 for his intern year then completed 3 years of contractual
service under the Queensland Health Rural Scholarship Scheme. During this time
he was based at Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Emerald and Kingaroy plus surrounding
smaller regions from these. Before commencing General Practice training he also
completed a further year at Redcliffe Emergency.
2007

Dr Edward Scott completed
his GP training with the practice in 2007 and then accepted an
invitation to join the practice full time.
