Training
With the opening of the new clinic on Sydney
Street the practice has reinstated its training accreditation. Dr
Paul Lanham is the lead trainer with support from Drs John Scott, Bryan Palmer
and John Harris. General Practice trainees or "Registrars" are
qualified doctors who are carrying out their final training to
become General Practitioners under supervision. These doctors are
usually with the practice for six months. The practice has also
recent begun training nursing students who are on placement from
Nambour General Hospital.
Our
current GP trainee who joined us in January 2008 is Dr Mark Zischke who
graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001. He was based at Nambour
Hospital in 2002 for his intern year then completed 3 years of contractual
service under the Queensland Health Rural Scholarship Scheme. During this time
he was based at Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Emerald and Kingaroy plus surrounding
smaller regions from these. Before commencing General Practice training he also
completed a further year at Redcliffe Emergency. Mark is in his final 12 months
of General Practice training and will be based at Nambour.
