| Nambour History Nambour Clinic was established in
1959 when the late Dr James Trotter relocated his surgery from Netherton
Street to the current premises in Howard Street, Nambour. Dr Trotter and
Dr Allan Raine formed a partnership in 1959 and Dr Raine continued in
the practice until his retirement in 2006. Dr Miles Savill also joined
the partnership in 1959 and continues to practice today.
Nambour Clinic
originally addressed the health needs of families in the local
community. As a small country practice, the Clinic offered stability
and continuity of care to the people of Nambour and surrounding
districts.
The nature of
medicine has changed over the last forty years. In the early years of
the Clinic’s history the doctors themselves performed major surgical
procedures at the local hospital. Caring for midwifery patients was
also part of the practice, and the doctors were on call on a roster
system at night and on weekends. With the availability of specialist
medical services in the area surgical and midwifery patients are in 2007
referred to specialists. Patients still have access to an after hours
and weekend service offered by the clinic and all the doctors have
admitting rights to Selangor Private Hospital.
With the ever
growing needs of the local population the clinic needed a renovation
and on the 3rd June 2007 it opening the doors of its new purpose
built premises on Sydney Street.
The doctors and
staff of Nambour, Woombye and Palmwoods Clinics strive to provide an excellent
service to the people in the local area. This is achieved in a
congenial atmosphere where care and concern for people’s health needs
are of paramount importance.
