Pap Smear Clinic
Nambour Clinic runs a Pap Smear Clinic from 8.30am
until 5 pm every Thursday by appointment only.
This service was established in 2006 and is bulk
billed to all patients. The clinic is undertaken by registered nurse
Angela Palmer who has been trained as a Queensland Pap Smear
Registered Nurse. For women who attend the clinic for a Pap smear
Angela is also able to give general women's health advice as well as
advice on contraceptive matters, menopause, the new Gardasil vaccine
and sexually transmitted infections.
Angela's nursing experience started in Taunton,
England where she worked in Urology and Surgical/Medical Emergency
admissions. During her stay in Australia in 1997/8 she worked on the
Day Surgery Unit at Nambour General before returning to England to
retrain as a Contraceptive and Sexual Health Nurse in which she
holds a Diploma. She is currently working towards a Master's Degree
at Griffith University to obtain a Sexual Health Nurse endorsement
on her Queensland Licence.
Angela is married to Bryan Palmer who joined the
practice as a GP in April 2006. They have 2 children and outside of
work her main interests are travel and food.
