Skin Check Clinic Nambour Clinic
is pleased to announce a new dedicated Skin Check Clinic from May
2008. The practice has invested in MoleMaxTM 1
technology and a dedicated nurse to aid our doctors in the
management of skin lesions. Please follow this
link for further
information on this amazing technology. Living in South East
Queensland we are blessed with many sunny days but this can come at
a price with a higher than average incidence of skin cancer.
Dr Lanham will be available Tuesday afternoon and
Dr Edward Scott on Wednesday afternoon with a view to future
expansion of the service in the future.
In addition to anyone who is concerned about any
skin lesion or who wishes a full skin check as a preventative
measure we would recommend that the following high risk patients
attend for an annual screen.
-
Family history of
melanoma in first degree relative.
-
Fair complexion, a
tendency to burn rather than tan, the presence of freckles,
light eye colour, light or red hair colour.
-
Age over 30 years (>
50 years of age most at risk).
-
Presence of solar
lentigines.
-
Past history of
non-melanoma skin cancer (<40 years of age higher risk).
-
People with
childhood high levels of UV exposure and episodes of sunburn in
children.
-
People with multiple
atypical or dysplastic moles who have a history of melanoma in
themselves or in one or more first degree relative (usually >15
years of age).
